Dear Knees (specifically the right one),
Wow, what we have been through together! You've always been so strong and have never caused me any pain...until now! I'm not sure if my recent desire to run outside and build up to a 5K has freaked you out, but I really wish your ability to help me with my re-found joy of running outside was less painful. I don't think I started out too fast and I always made sure to stretch you before and after each run, but I guess that's not enough. I'm not sure what is going on with you, but I'm not giving up. Although I've been taking it easy and not running since Saturday, when I probably shouldn't have finished that run, but I hope you've been enjoying the cold ice I've been using the last few days. Oh and the Tylenol must not hurt either! I know we can get through this together and enjoy our runs outside again some day...hopefully soon! In the meantime, I'll be strengthening your upstairs neighbors, the quads, in hopes that will relieve some of the tension my running puts on you. I'll probably need to get you checked out by a Doctor too, so if you feel some poking and prodding in the next few days, I apologize in advance, but it is for your benefit.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to ease your pain as I do value you as an important part of me and I want us to be together forever!
Yours truly,
Heidi
***So, that's my way of telling you that I'm sidelined from running until further notice. I like to self-diagnose and believe I have a case of "runner's knee" and am doing what I can to get back outside. I hate going to the Doctor, but Mr. 2SB is concerned, so I might give in soon. Re-caps will be back tomorrow!***
Any other runners out there suffer from knee pain? What did you do to get better?
